Checking In

I always hate it when I can't seem to find time to blog because writing in here really centers me, but it's sometimes a necessary evil.  This week has been one of those weeks where I haven't had a moment to sit down and write.  Between the various summer internship interviews I've gone to and visiting apartments to sublet for the summer, I feel like I haven't had a moment to sit still!  On top of all that, the Joyce's Annual Gala is Tuesday, and the stress and activity levels at work have been higher than ever before.  Pair all of that with impending final papers and projects and then trying to fit in my introverted alone time...there hasn't been a second to write or think or breathe!

But things are starting to calm down.  Internship interviews are dwindling and I just have to wait to hear back from them now.  I also found a place to live for the summer, which takes so much pressure off.  Plus, I might potentially have a job prospect.
Finals might be rolling into full effect, but I certainly prefer that stress to Gala and apartment hunting worries.

So what has this unintentional week-long break held besides stress?  Luckily there were good moments too:
Last weekend began with Holi, which left my hair chalky for days but was epic. Photo cred: Marlee Fox
And then we got dressed up to see Lupe Fiasco and The Chainsmokers at Bacchanal
Then promptly spend the rest of the 70 degree weekend laying on the grass
On a cold and rainy night I was lucky enough to grab a fancy dinner at Flat Top with the amazing Leigh
Thursday night we had some suite bonding over junk food and 90's music and it was perfect.
Friday we started finalizing everything for the gala at work, but the view made me remember that it's all worth it.
Friday I saw a concert of a band I'd never heard of, and loved it WAY more than I expected.
And then Saturday I got up way to early to go to record store day...which I didn't know was a thing before Friday.  But I had a blast and some very good company to ease my sleepiness.
So while it's been crazy, it's also been an amazing week full of people I'm so glad to know and experiences I'm so glad to have made time for amongst the crazy.  Tomorrow I'm off hiking and then onto the final stretch of classes!  Here's to getting back to blogging!

Meet The Author

I'm Madysen, born and raised in Nebraska but now living out my dreams in New York City. I moved here to go to Columbia, but living in New York has become so much more to me. This blog is a space where I can share my experiences of reconciling my midwestern upbringing with the life I live in the city. But even bigger than that, this blog serves as a space where I can try to understand where I fit into the larger social world, where I want to go in life, and how I want to go about pursuing all of these endeavors.
