Nostalgia All Around

A throwback pic to last year's 4th of July extravaganza.  I really did miss it this year.

The sound of the crackling fireworks, the smell of the smoke as it drifted across the east river, and the taste of peppermint tea with milk and brown sugar.

It's been a very nostalgic 4th of July.

It wasn't necessarily anything incredibly special--I went to a doctor's appointment, grabbed a burger ('Murica), and watched the fireworks with an unlikely yet wonderful group of people.

It's nice to end a day unbelievably happy.

It's been a long week with very few posts as a result.  But back to the regular programming starting on Monday!  In the meantime, check out my last post here, if you missed it.  It's longer than usual, but very important to me.

Hope y'all had a great holiday!

Meet The Author

I'm Madysen, born and raised in Nebraska but now living out my dreams in New York City. I moved here to go to Columbia, but living in New York has become so much more to me. This blog is a space where I can share my experiences of reconciling my midwestern upbringing with the life I live in the city. But even bigger than that, this blog serves as a space where I can try to understand where I fit into the larger social world, where I want to go in life, and how I want to go about pursuing all of these endeavors.
